Kamakura Cafe - Jakarta

During my visit to Jakarta on February 2017, I did manage to visit a neighbourhood Kamakura café, located in one of the hippest dining destinations in Jakarta, Pantai Indah Kapuk.

Kamakura was set in a simple, clean and minimalist manner, the neatly displayed magazines and the electric sockets at the tables were plus points!

Kamakura is currently under renovation, they're still building, decorating and adding details to the interior.

Assorted Appetizers 3 varieties ( IDR 73k )

I'm quite lucky because during my visit, they're launching their new and fresh menu. At Kamakura Cafe, they always served the best they can. Generous portion for the appetizer. Taste wise and a good choice for a start up.

Carbonara Kamakura Style ( IDR 73k )

In here, you can choose your pasta style; S size ( 50 g ), M size ( 70 g ), L size ( 100 g ) or XL size (120 g).

The carbonara topped with crispy bacon, onions and some vegetables. It didn't go soggy at all like some other pasta, it was nicely al dente and held the sauce well.

Soft Shell Crab ( IDR 88k )

Use one whole crab for this portion, reasonably priced! The crab was some of the best I've ever tried. Perfectly steamed by Kamakura.

Genovese with Mix Seafood ( IDR 98k )

Topping shrimp, squid, shellfish, and many more make this plate a heaven of seafood. The seafood was so fresh, big yet tasty.

The service was totally awesome. Cozy and a good place for hanging out with friends or family. And yes, they also launched a various type of new dessert menu. Go try them!

Old City Life Coffee

Old City Life Coffee is a franchise restaurant which opened in August, 2016 at Komplek Multatuli Indah Block A No.42, Medan. This small yet comfy Cafe offer guests either they want to enjoy their time indoor or outdoor.

Indoor ( 1st Floor )

For me, first floor is quite comfy compare to their second floor. The cafe was still not in their good shape, but they still keep improving.

Outdoor ( 2nd Floor )

I got really sick after coming up to their second floor. The dish washer was located near the toilet, unpleasant odors, and the hot atmosphere makes me directly went back to the first floor.
 
Their food rate is quite cheap and they served both Indonesian and Western cuisine. Because they are located near campus and offices, they also served coffee to-go for people who are in such a rush to start working or studying.

When you are hanging with your friends and don't know what to do, you can borrow their games such as UNO and Chess.

Back to their food review, the food was outstanding!!! It was love at the first bite, the taste was just amazing. I order their signature food which are Nasi Goreng Buntut, Spaghetti Aglio Olio, and Ifumie Goreng Kriuk.

Nasi Goreng Buntut

There are so many variations of Nasi Goreng here, but this one I found was pretty good. Portions are your typical sized plates. Beefs were cut into small parts and go along with your fried rice. Fried buntut was so soft and tender.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio

Taste not bad considering the price but a little bit spicy. Spaghetti contains dice chicken, and mushrooms. The spaghetti was a little bit watery but worth trying.

Ifumie Goreng Kriuk

This Ifumie was not my type. Their plate was just not get along with the meal. The sauce was so little so we cannot pour it on top of the noodle. Turns out the leftover noodles was so hard to cut and chew.

Then we are going to take you to their beverages review. Their coffee was good, but for the juices, they are not fresh. They make the juice using fruit syrups. So I decided to go for a coffee and matcha green tea. There are a lot variety of coffee to order. According to the owner, Yin Yang Coffee, Mocca Coffee Latte, and Capuccino are their best.

YinYang Coffee

 This taste a lot like Caramel Machiato. Fresh and not to bitter. Turns out that i'm a big fan for this.

Mocca Coffee Latte

This turns out to be special. The coffee not bitter at all. Mocca makes it to be more special. Serve better in hot.

Matcha Green Tea

Nothing special about the taste. The green tea powder was not enough. Lots of ice cubes makes the taste fly away.

Overall despite of the ambice, the food and beverage is good. This cafe is worth a visit.
